We Care Saturday

May 8, 2021

We Care Saturday 2021 was on May 8th.  Being Mother's Day Weekend we took gifts to mothers throughout the community, let them know they were loved and appreciated, offered prayers and visited.  It was a very special day!

First of all, I'm a Survivor - I survived Linda's driving :)   Linda & I went to The Farmhouse.  When we walked in a girl with an infant was standing at the register and the waitress was handing her her ticket.  Linda intercepted the ticket and said "We got this".  The girl started crying.  I took all the tickets that were on the customer's tables.  A family of 4 thanked us and said they had had a really bad week and what a blessing this was to them.  Four wouldn't let us pay their meals, wanted us to bless someone else because they were already blessed.  An elderly lady said with all that was going on in the world she was so blessed to see someone doing something so nice.  One customer was a teacher at the Elementary School and was so appreciative.  We paid for all the call-in orders too which we found out were for the Nursing Home staff.  The waitress at the register said her mother was a resident at the Nursing Home and  the baskets another team from Upward was taking there that day would really lift her spirits.  Others were so thankful!

We set up a table outside Dollar General in Albany.  The children were excited to be handing out free water to patrons leaving the store.  Several people tried to give us donations even though we told them we were there to bless them, not take donations but they insisted.  Life Changers, a Christian Ministry for substance abuse, also had a table at Dollar General and were taking donation so we donated the money that people had given us.  All were truly blessed!

My children and I went to the Shell Station and handed out free hand sanitizer.  One gentleman wanted to give us a donation.  We explained we were not taking donations but he insisted to the point we had to take it.  We then went inside and used that money to bless someone else and pay for their gas.  That customer was so grateful they bought candy for my children.  The gift that keeps on giving!  It was a truly special day!

Phyllis gave our testimony and yes, I can drive a little erratic :)

What I love is the all the after-effects.  It just keeps continuing.  I got a text from a friend that night.  She saw our team (pictured at left) at the B&K and said they were so inspired by what we were doing they were going to do something similar at their church!  I wasn't sure how well received we would be but people all over Byrdstown and Albany were so touched that total strangers would care and want to do something for them.  Showing the love of Jesus!  We love our community!

Received this note "I want to personally thank you and your church for my family breakfast the other day at The Farmhouse.  That was very nice of you all.  We will be paying it forward"

Praise God we were able to witness to at least 3-4 people and prayed with two people for healing.  One lady asked about our services stating she has been wanting to come.  One couple we were able to help with additional things they needed besides taking out their trash.
